Rare encounter with a John Dory

Unfortunately, it is not very common these days to come across John Dory, locally known as Pixxi San Pietru (Peter’s Fish).   During this dive at Mgarr ix-Xini with Denis Marin, we were lucky to see one gracefully finning along.  We observed it for several minutes; admiring its incredibly thin profile (if you happen to point a dive light at it, the light easily penetrates to the other side) and graceful movement.

On this dive I also tested a new piece of gear: the Shearwater Petrel 2 Dive Computer, which is just a fabulous computer.  Can’t wait to use it on technical dives!
