Riding at Sunset
Today’s picture takes us back to Noordwijk in the Netherlands. After a day-long meeting at the European Space Agency we headed out for dinner at a lovely restaurant overlooking the beach. I confess I was considerably distracted from my food all the time, as I watched the sun slowly setting beyond the horizon. Then, when least expected, three horses came galloping from afar. I quickly grabbed my camera which lay waiting beside me and ran out as fast as I could. In the very few seconds during which I waited with bated breath for the horses to approach, I recall myself quickly turning the dials on my camera in preparation for the brief moment that I was about to witness in no time at all. I simply had to get this right! I found myself wondering whether I was so excited that I was perhaps shaking too much to get a sharp shot. I don’t remember exactly how many frames I fired as the horses majestically went by, but I do remember that I leapt with joy even before I checked the screen of my camera – because I knew that I had snatched the moment I wanted. Sometimes, it’s like that. You just know.
lovely shot there mate… especially love the three nearly equal spaces of sand, sea and sky (maybe a crop from above and below will make it even better?) nonetheless well done..
