“A man is what he thinks about all day long.”

Whenever I point the lens at people lost in their own thoughts, I can’t help but agree with Ralph Waldo Emerson. I can see no more of the thoughts, as a photographer, than anyone else can. This is indeed one photographic subject that remains always hidden from the lens, no matter how powerful it is. Yet we can get a glimpse, albeit a distant one. There is something quite unique about observing others lost in their own thoughts. You never know how long it will last. And it does not feel right to invade that space. So you wait. You wait until you are certain that their mind has reached a place where the mere click of a shutter cannot be heard. You wait until you are even invisible to their faded gaze. And whilst the thoughts themselves cannot be captured, the moments during which they’re entertained can. After much deliberation, I finally decided to post this collection of six pictures taken all over the world. For as diverse as the people of the world are, their thoughts absorb them all in the same way. And thus, I present to you the gallery of thoughts.
